Research Interests

1. Accessing the metabolic diversity of marine prokaryotes through genomic, molecular biology, and novel cultivation methods;
2. Molecular ecology of coral-associated and planktonic marine prokaryotes;
3. Comparative genomic analysis of Pelagibacter ubique, the first cultivated member of the SAR11 marine bacterioplankton clade.
