Leave Lab

Arrive Lilipuna Pier

7:50am

8:00am

3:50pm

4:00pm

4:50pm

5:00pm

Hono Kai returns to Main Lab after loading and unloading at Lilipuna Pier.

After Hours (6:00pm – 10:00pm weekdays)
A boat will run on the hour or half hour if requested.  Requests are made by signing up in the main office before 5pm or by paging the resident boat driver at least 15 min before the hour or half hour.

Weekends and Holidays
A boat will run on the hour from 8:00am to 5:00pm leaving from the small cove by the Marine Mammal Research Program building.

Leave Boat option
A second boat that may be signed out via the resident boat driver can be left on the Lilipuna Pier side for returns outside of normal boat operation hours. The requesting person must be checked out for night boat operations and boat towing by the HIMB Boat RA. If more than one person requests the boat at the same time, the first person returning must shuffle the boat back to Lilipuna for use by later persons (via towing the boat back to Lilipuna behind another boat, returning to Coconut Island in the second boat). This can be a bit tricky in windy conditions and should be practiced before having to do it at night. See Boat RA or resident boat driver for instruction.

Additional Information

Parking
Parking is limited in the Lilipuna Pier parking lot. Visitors are only allowed in the visitor and student parking. These are the double car stalls at the base of the hillside. If you are the second (blocking) car in the stall, note the stall number and HANG UP your keys in the appropriate slot in the key box at the end of the pier. Your sponsor will help you obtain a parking hang tag for your vehicle or get a temporary pass from security.

Shopping
Several grocery stores are located within a mile of Lilipuna Pier. Additionally there is a mall, drugstore, and other shops within walking distance. There is no bus or shuttle service between Lilipuna Pier and shopping.

Bus Lines
TheBus system does not come down Lilipuna Road. The closest bus stop is at the corner of Lilipuna Road and Kamehameha Hwy near Safeway and Windward Mall. Bus schedules can be picked up at Satellite City Hall next to the Post Office in Kaneohe, or visit the website of TheBus for schedules and route information.
