Pauley Summer Program images - Tracking Dasyatis latus

Bringing a stingray, Dasyatis latus, on board for transmitter attachment Students measure the disc-width of this stingray
Each ray is also given a Peterson-disc ID tag After measuring and tagging, the stingray will be fitted with an acoustic transmitter
Small coded pingers are attached to the ray with galvanized wire and will fall off in a few weeks Close-up of transmitter attachment
Ultrasonic transmitters are very small in size The pingers are attached to the Peterson discs
The ray is eased back in the water to begin the track Tracking the ray from our 17-foot Boston Whaler
