Barbara Arthurs is the vice chancellor for student affairs at Hawai‘i Community College. She has unselfishly served the UH System for more than 20 years as a counselor, acting dean of student services and head counselor.

Arthurs serves as role model of tireless and faithful commitment to the cause of education. She puts in long hours, even on the weekends, to improve present and future opportunities for students.

She spent countless hours working with two colleagues to build the UH System STAR program for the campus, which has resulted in a more efficient registration and records systems for thousands of students.

A diligent and dedicated educator and administrator, Arthurs made it her life’s mission and work to improve the university’s educational system through student services.

The Hawai‘i Community College Chancellor’s Award recognizes a civil service or administrative, professional and technical employee for outstanding demonstrated work performance, service, leadership and/or fostering of excellence in higher education.
