Marilyn Brown
Recipient of the UH Hilo Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Service, Marilyn Brown is an assistant professor of sociology.
For the past two years Brown has placed sociology student interns at the UH Hilo Women’s Center to work on issues of violence against women. The placements resulted in more campus programming in the fall during Sexual Assault Awareness Week through Take Back the Night activities, educational events and the visually graphic clothesline project.
She also serves the university through her active participation in the UH Hilo Congress, the General Education Subcommittee and the Congress Executive Committee.
The Chancellor’s Awards honor outstanding service by UH Hilo employees.
