Robert Wehrman is an instructor of music at Maui Community College. His inspiration opens his students’ minds to a variety of possibilities. A student says, "I’ve learned so much from this teacher; he has helped me with so many things. I find him funny, understanding and he clearly loves what he does."
Developing a good rapport with his class is important to Wehrman and he takes the time to develop a personal relationship with his students. From the quality of Wehrman’s instruction and his enthusiasm, it’s easy to see that he loves music and loves to teach. Wehrman promotes creative thinking, personal growth and open-mindedness. Colleagues note that "his exemplary professionalism and dedication to his students is unwavering."
The Regents’ Medal for Excellence in Teaching is awarded by the Board of Regents as tribute to faculty members who exhibit an extraordinary level of subject mastery and scholarship, teaching effectiveness and creativity and personal values that benefit students.
