John Barkai

A professor and director of the clinical program, John Barkai teaches and writes in the fields of clinical legal education and alternative dispute resolution, which includes negotiation, mediation and other alternatives to trial in court.
Barkai is known locally, nationally and internationally for his unique and creative teaching, his mastery of the subjects he teaches and his scholarship.
He is also noted for his many leadership roles and community service contributions outside the law school.
The Regents’ Medal for Excellence in Teaching is awarded by the Board of Regents as tribute to faculty members who exhibit an extraordinary level of subject mastery and scholarship, teaching effectiveness and creativity and personal values that benefit students. The board also awards the Regents’ Medal for Excellence in Research.
