UH Manoa Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Service
Service Award Winner
Joanne Kurosawa is a secretary in the Department of Molecular Science and Bioengineering. Kurosawa has been with the college for 30 years, and is described by her nominators as "energetic, unselfish, dependable, organized, knowledgeable and a team player."
As staffing levels have varied over the years, Kurosawa has never hesitated to fill in wherever she is needed. CTAHR activities such as the Urban Garden Sale and the Farm Fair have benefited greatly from her time and talent. Kurosawa demonstrates her high regard and affection for CTAHR students, by attending commencement ceremonies, and preparing Hawaii farewell gifts for the college’s international students.
Kurosawa’s hard work was recognized in 2004 with the CTAHR Outstanding Civil Service Employee Award.
The University of Hawaii at Manoa Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Service honors Manoa staff members who demonstrate outstanding work performance, service and leadership. Criteria include record of competence and efficiency, exceptional contribution in the attainment of program objectives, creative solutions to difficult problems, integrity and dedication to the mission of a program.
