Manoa’s Meritorious Teachers
Department of Sociology
An associate professor of sociology, Sun-Ki Chai’s goal in teaching is to help students gain mastery of a broad range of social science knowledge and then apply it in practical ways in their everyday lives. His exceptional computer skills have enabled him to enhance all of his courses.
He is a respected scholar with a diverse interdisciplinary background and interests in the fields of social change and development, ethnic relations and rational-choice theory.
A graduate student observed, "Dr. Chai’s relationship with his students reflects all the attributes of an excellent teacher—time, support, ideas, constructive criticism and caring."
