Chevron Poster & Cover Contest
The main goal of the Hawaii State Science and Engineering Fair Poster and Cover Contest is to encourage students to think artistically about science and engineering. Any public or private school student, grades 6-12, may submit one self-designed (original), self made poster. Download the Guidelines and Entry form for next year's competition.
The first place winning design of the 2009 Poster and Cover Contest was submitted by Aleysia-Rae Kaha of Kamehameha School. She received $300 and her design, featured below, will be on the cover of the 2010 HSSEF program booklet. Her teacher, Jim Dong, received a $50 gift certificate for art supplies.

The second place winner, Joshua Koko of Kamehameha School, was awarded $200. His teacher, Jim Dong, received a $50 gift certificate for art supplies.
The third place winner, Janet Tran of Roosevelt High School, won $100. Teacher, Jeanine Nakakura received a $25 gift certificate for art supplies.
Each of the following Honorable Mention winners won $50, and their teachers (in parentheses) each got a $25 gift certificate for art supplies.
- Grades 10-12: Mayleen Joyce Cuestas, Farrington High School (Tess Pereira)
- Grades 8-9: Danicia Honda, Highlands Intermediate School (Kathy Lin)
- Grades 6-7: Megan Climalbi, Niu Valley Intermediate School (Nicholas Black)
