WCAG 2.2 Compliance Checking
ITS would like to assist the UH community in ensuring that web content is WCAG 2.2 compliant and accessible to all. ITS provides UH campuses and departments with two options for checking accessibility compliance: the licensed compliance checking software SortSite and the cloud based Siteimprove.
SortSite
Using this software UH faculty and staff may scan their web sites and/or pages for WCAG 2.1 or WCAG 2.2 compliance. Inclusive in scanning websites, a compliance report can be printed in order to manually fix issues that the software finds.
The software is located on a Windows 10 VM (virtual machine) and access is granted on a first come, first served basis. To request access, please fill out the reservation form.
Requests received may take 1-2 business days to be processed. Once processed, you will receive instructions on how to access the VM via Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection software, along with a unique password that will be sent to you via the UH Filedrop system.
For assistance using the software or connecting to the VM, please email itsada-scan@lists.hawaii.edu.
Siteimprove
Siteimprove is a cloud-based service that can scan websites for accessibility compliance. Using this service UH faculty and staff may setup a recurring scan of their web sites for WCAG 2.2 compliance. An accessibility report can be set to be emailed out automatically every week to ensure your site’s continuing accessibility. More information on Siteimprove, including archived training, can be found on the ITS Siteimprove page.
You can view the Siteimprove Dashboard to get an overview of how accessibility scores have changed over time. Utilize the options on the dashboard to see all sites or those for a specific campus. If you are a Siteimprove user you can also see the scores for just your site as well.
