WORLD OF WARCRAFT DESIGNERS POSTPONED . . .

ACM's scheduled Guest Speakers Program, featuring two designers from Blizzard Entertainment's "World of Warcraft" team has been postponed, due to some company conflicts. We'll let you know when it's rescheduled.

… BUT, EA's BOB NICOLL TALKS ABOUT GAMES, FILMS CONVERGING

Our good friends and colleagues at KCC's New Arts program are bringing Bob Nicoll, senior director for world wide graphics training from Electronic Arts to deliver three lectures, all at Kopiko 202 on the KCC campus:

* “Convergence: Games & Film,” Feb. 23, 7-9 pm

* “Lighting for Games: Not so different from Rembrandt,” Feb. 24, 10 am-noon

* “Cinematography in Game Design,” Feb. 24, 1-3 pm.

SUMMER DOCUMENTARY DIRECTING WORKSHOP FOR ACM CREDIT

A special summer workshop, “Directing the Documentary,” by Sam Green (WEATHER UNDERGROUND) will be held May 27-28, 9 am – 4 pm each day, on the

Campus. ACM students can register for Summer Session credit - ACM 390 (Workshop in Creative Media) and earn 1 credit for participating in this Pacific New Media Workshop. No additional workshop fee will be charged for ACM students – just your 1 credit tuition. ACM and Pacific New Media are working together to provide workshop/credit opportunities throughout the year.

* PACIFIKA: New York Hawaiian Film Festival is seeking an intern to help with the festival planning and operation. The payoff? PAPER CLIPS, MARLENE BOOTH'S “YIDL” AT WEEKEND FESTIVAL

The critically acclaimed documentaries PAPER CLIPS by Eliot Berlin and YIDLE IN THE MIDDLE: GROWING UP JEWISH IN IOWA by ACM's own Marlene Booth, are featured in the 4th Annual Kirk Cashmere Jewish Film Festival, Friday through Monday at Spalding Auditorium. Each screening is $6.

PAPER CLIPS follows a student project in rural Tennessee to collect six million paper clips to grasp the concept of six million Holocaust victims. The film details how the students met Holocaust survivors from around the world and how the experience transformed them and their community. Friday at 7:30 pm.

YIDL IN THE MIDDLE documents Marlene Booth's “negotiated identity” of Jews in small-town America who adapt their behavior to accommodate local norms. Sunday at 5 pm.

* TOUCH THE SOUND, a documentary by Thomas Riedelsheimer on Evelyn Glennie, a Grammy-winning classical percussionist whose solo work is unrivalled. She is also deaf. “A feast for the senses,” says the New York Daily News. Wednesday through Saturday at 1 pm and 7:30 pm.  

* THE PASSENGER, Michelangelo Antonioni's 1975 classic starring Jack Nicholson. This thriller has been off the circuit for many years. It is being re-released in select theatres for the big screen, including the Doris Duke. It's preceded by CAUSE AND EFFECT, local director Michael Ogasawara's HIFF 05 winning short film. Sunday at 1 pm, 4 pm, and 7:30 pm; Feb. 20 at 7:30 pm; Feb. 21 at 1 pm and 7:30 pm
