ACM Awards Cuidelines

1) All currently enrolled UHM students who have created work in ACM classes are eligible and encouraged to enter.  Students may submit any film on which they worked in the capacity of Director, Producer, Animator, Writer, Director of Photography, Production Designer, Editor or Sound Designer. For example, if you worked as the Editor on a film in ACM410, you may enter this film into the ACM Awards even if the Director of the film does not enter it or has graduated.
2) All current UHM students who are members of the artistic team of each submitted film will be considered for awards. For example, if you submit a film as a Director, your Editor could win an award for his/her work on the film (even though he/she did not submit the film).
3) Student may submit one film with this exception: If you are a Senior who is graduating this semester, Summer or Fall, you may submit up to two films that you have made over your career in the ACM. For such graduating seniors, a separate application package is necessary for each film submission.
4) The submission deadline for all films is 5 PM Thursday April 19, 2012.Only complete submissions will be considered. A complete submission includes the following:
a. Application form
b. Paperwork including all necessary clearances (talent, music)
c. 3 DVD copies of the film, as specified in #6, below, with proper credits at the beginning and end of each copy of the film

5) Films must be less than 20 minutes TRT.
6) Three (3) DVDs for each film must be submitted: two (2) identical NTSC DVDs of the full length submitted film and one (1) NTSC DVD that contains only a fifteen second trailer for the film. The trailers must be silent except for the following music track. Trailer Music
The trailer must not be longer than fifteen seconds.  The DVD that contains the trailer must not
have a menu or a play button. The trailer must begin playing as soon as the DVD is inserted into the
player. Trailers will be used to introduce winning films. 
All DVDs must be labeled with the filmmakers name, title of film, running time, and the ACM class for which the film was produced. In addition, your trailer DVD must be clearly marked “Trailer”.  All
filmmakers will also submit an Electronic(CD) "Press Kit" which includes: a Synopsis, Crew List, a
Digital Production Still(.jpeg minimum 300 DPI), a Digital Head shot of Director(.jpeg minimum 300 DPI), and a One-Liner.

7) All accepted submissions will be screened at the ACM Screening Showcase on Friday April, 27 and Saturday April 28, 2012. The ACM Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday May 4, 2012. Both the Screening Showcase and the Awards Ceremony are open to all UHM students, faculty, staff, cast, crew and family members.

8) Awards will be given out in categories, including Best Narrative, Best Experimental, Best Documentary, Best Directing, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Collaborator and best Animation among others.
 
9) Awards will be decided by a panel of ACM faculty judges.
10) An audience award will be presented based on peer responses collected at the ACM Screening Showcase-So bring your cast, crews, friends and family members to the screenings!!
11) Guidelines and rules for the ACM Awards ceremony may change at anytime without notice.

Notes:

* Do not submit multiple films on one DVD. Each film must be submitted on a separate  DVD and must be submitted independently of any other film.
* Do not submit films made outside the ACM.
* Films submitted for previous ACM Award Competitions may not be resubmitted.
* Awards may be revoked or recalled if any issues arise re: rights, clearances, or permits for a film.
