Regent
Grant Teichman
A graduate of Kauai High School and the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Grant Tuck Sun Teichman joined the board in 2009. He is a third generation UH student; he received bachelor’s degrees in both political science and European history and is attending UH Manoa’s William S. Richardson School of Law.
Teichman was elected as a sophomore to two consecutive terms as president of the Associated Students of the University of Hawaii. In 2008 he served as president-elect for the UH Student Union Campus Center Board. He has served on various UH committees and community commissions. He was appointed to the Honolulu Mayor’s High-Capacity Transit Corridor Project Advisory Committee in 2005 and the Atherton YMCA Board of Directors in 2006.
Teichman has volunteered with UH Manoa’s New Student Orientation, served as an associate news editor for the Ka Leo O Hawaii and was a leadership advisor for the YMCA Youth Legislative Program. He was inducted into the Golden Key Honour Society, National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Phi Alpha Theta History Honors Society; listed in the UHM Dean’s List; and received both the Sophomore Honors Achievement Award and the Leadership Distinction Award. In 2007 he was named the UHM Rhodes Scholar nominee.
