FAQ - Admission Procedures / Application Process

  1. What is the deadline to apply for admission?
    The priority date for Fall application is February 1, with a final deadline of May 1. The priority date for Spring application is September 1, with a final deadline of October 1.

    International students must meet the priority dates to be considered for admission.

    Some programs close earlier, so we recommend that you apply well in advance.

  2. How can I receive an application for admission?
    There are several ways to get an application. You can go to the University of Hawaii at Manoa Admissions and Records website www.hawaii.edu/admrec and click on "Request Application". This will enable you to download and print an application. If you prefer to receive an application by mail, you can click on "Proceed to On-line Request Form"; an application will be mailed to you after you submit the requested information. Finally, you can call the Office of Admissions and Records at (808) 956-8975 or 1 (800) 823-9771 to request one by mail.

  3. Can I apply on-line?
    Yes, apply on-line at: apply.hawaii.edu

  4. To which address should I submit my application and supporting documents?

  5. How long does it take to process an application?
    Once all of your application documents are received, it should take approximately 4-8 weeks to process your application. Admission to selected majors may take additional time to process, since application documents are forwarded and reviewed by the specific school or college within the university.

  6. How do I check on the status of my application?
    You can check on the status of your application by calling our admissions and records office at (808) 956-8975 or 1 (800) 823-9771 (M-F 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Hawaii time). You may also visit the admissions counter in the Queen Lilioukalani Student Services Center, room 001 between 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Monday through Fridays.

  7. What is considered an official high school or college transcript?
    We consider a transcript to be official if it has been sent to us directly by the issuing high school or college. If the transcript is given to you, and you then submit it with your application, it is not considered "official".

  8. Is admission open for freshmen and transfers for either semester?
    Yes.

  9. If I had been accepted for a previous semester, am I automatically accepted?
    No, acceptances are for the semester of application only.
