- Freshmen Admission
- What
do I need to submit to apply for admission as a freshman?
You need to submit a completed application form, official
high school transcripts (sent directly from your high school
to our admission office), official ACT or SAT-I scores, and
an application fee.
- Is
there a minimum cumulative high school GPA required for admission
as a freshman?
The minimum cumulative high school grade point average required
for freshmen is 2.8.
- Is
a weighted GPA accepted for students who have taken high school
advanced placement (AP) courses?
Yes, if the high school also uses a weighted GPA.
- Do
you offer credit for AP?
Credits are granted on the basis of your score on the AP exams.

- Is
the GED (General Education Diploma) accepted?
Yes.
- Are
there minimum required SAT/ACT scores to be considered for
admission?
The SAT requirement is 510 Writing, 510 Critical Reading,
and 510 Math. The ACT requirement is 22 English, 22 English/Writing,
22 Math, and 22 Composite. (Under review, subject to change)
- If
I take the SAT or ACT more than once, how will the scores
be used?
We will take the best score received from any test date. For
example, if you scored 520 writing, 500 critical reading and
490 math on your first SAT test date and scored 500 writing,
510 critical reading, and 510 math on a subsequent test, the
scores used for admission would be 520 writing, 510 critical
reading, and 510 math.
- Are
there specific high school courses that I need to complete
to be considered for admission as a freshman?
Yes, the following are required:
College Prep English-4 courses
College Prep Math-3 courses (including Algebra I, II, and
Geometry)
College Prep Science-3 courses (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
recommended)
College Prep Social Studies-3 courses
College Prep Electives-4 courses
Other Electives-5 courses
- Are
high school foreign language courses required for admission?
Although foreign language courses are not required for admission,
many students take them for use as college prep electives.
- Will
I be denied admission as a freshman if I do not meet the minimum
cumulative GPA or SAT/ACT scores?
The admissions officers will look at your application and
supporting documents as a whole to determine admissibility.
The rigor of your high school academic courses will be scrutinized.
Positive letters of recommendation on your behalf from teachers
and counselors who are aware of your academic potential will
support your admission file. Additionally, a written statement
explaining why you feel that you will succeed at the university
will also be considered.
