FAQ - Residency

  1. How can I be considered a Hawaii resident for tuition purposes?
Refer to the Residency Information section of this website.

  2. Does the University of Hawaii at Manoa participate in any programs that offer reduced tuition to non-residents?
UHM participates in the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) program. This program allows classified undergraduate students in selected majors from the following states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming to attend the university at one and one-half times the in-state rate (which is approximately one-half of the usual non-resident tuition). Majors not included under WUE for the University of Hawaii at Manoa are Architecture, Dental Hygiene and Nursing. For additional information and a WUE application, refer to the Western Undergraduate Exchange Scholarship Information section under Tuition & Fees.
