Chapter 35: Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance

This chapter is for survivors' and dependents' of those who were on active duty in the military. In order to receive Chapter 35 benefits:

NEW STUDENT (Never received benefits) TRANSFER STUDENT (Received benefits at another institution) DOCUMENTS TO BE BROUGHT TO OFFICE Award letter from Veterans Administration List of Courses required for major Proof of payment for classes List of Courses required for major Proof of payment for classes DOCUMENTS TO BE COMPLETED AT OFFICE Application (VA Form 22-5490) if haven't received award letter Student Enrollment Information Form Student's Responsibility Form Transfer Application (VA Form 22-5495) Student Enrollment Information Form Student's Responsibility Form

For students receiving Chapter 35 benefits for the first time, allow 6-8 weeks before receiving first payment. Students who have received benefits and are already in the VA database, allow 2-4 weeks before receiving payment.
