November 29 (in Bilger 319) @ 9:00am to hear UH Professor Dr. Chieko Tachihata, Hawaiian Curator Emeritus
discuss her pioneering University of Southern California Ph.D. dissertation on the History of Public Libraries
in Hawaii. Come learn the history of the only statewide public library system in the United States!

Dr. Matthew Fishburn on Wednesday, November 9 @ 4:00pm in Bilger 319. Dr. Fishburn will be in Hawaii to
share part of his dissertation on libraries, reading, and bookburning during the second world war.

Dr. Karen Peacock, Head of Special Collections at Hamilton LIbrary, has graciously agreed to give
ALA-SC a special 45-minute guided tour of selected rare books in the Making Connections/Treasures of The Library
exhibit, currently featured at the Gallery in the Art Building. The tour will start promptly at 4pm on Thursday,
