:: The Secret Life of Reference Librarians

Have you ever wondered what Reference Librarians do "the rest of the time" — when they're not staffing the Reference Desk? We are delighted that two of UH Hamilton's very enthusiastic reference librarians (Susan Johnson & Jodie Mattos) have agreed to spill the beans and answer all of your questions about academic reference librarianship! Don't miss this opportunity to find out what goes on behind the scenes. Thursday, March 16, 3:45pm-4:45pm in Bilger 319. Light refreshments will be served.

:: Whale Watching and Makapu'u Point Lighthouse Hike

Join us for a short, 3-mile loop hike to the Makapu'u Point Lighthouse. This hike is appropriate for both novice and exerienced hikers. It's also whale season, so hopefully we'll get to see some whales frolicking in the ocean. Weather permitting, the hike will be Sunday, February 19 @ 3pm. Send email to Annie Thomas if you need a ride to the site.

:: Art walk

ALA-SC invites UH LIS students to join us for an evening of art appreciation on Friday, March 3. The first Friday of every month, downtown art galleries are open and free to the public. Join us for happy hour at Indigo's Green Room ($2.75 martinis!) at 5:00pm, followed by the art walk at 6:00pm.

:: Art Librarianship brownbag

Nancy Conley, Librarian at the Cades Library in The Contemporary Museum of Hawaii will tell us about the joys and frustrations of being a solo librarian in a small musuem library and how she got there. Wednesday, February 8 @ 3:45pm in Campus Center, room 306. Light refreshment will be served.
