:: LIS Prom!
Party like it's 1986, 'cause our theme is "Pretty in Pink."
Date: Saturday, April 29
Time: 7:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Place: Tokai University, 2241 Kapiolani Boulevard, top floor (Penthouse!)
Price: FREE!!! (Donations to ALA-SC welcome)

:: A North Shore Adventure!
ALA-SC invites you to come along on a North Shore Adventure on Monday, March 27 (Prince Kuhio Day).
We will be hiking to Waimea Falls and having a late lunch at Cholo's. We will leave from UH campus at
10:30 am. If you would like a ride, please RSVP. If you are available to carpool please let us know!
:: Social Hour at Ba-le
ALA-SC invites you to join us for pupus (free!) and drinks (your own!) at Ba-le on the UH Campus (in Hemenway Hall)
on Thursday, March 23 from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. It'll be great. You should come!
:: Happy Hour And A Movie
Come join ALA-SC for happy hour at Brew Moon (in Ward Centre, 1200 Ala Moana Blvd.) at 5pm on Saturday, March 18th.
Following the happy hour, we will go to the Doris Duke Theatre (located at the Academy of Arts, off Ward) to watch
the documentary,

:: The Secret Life of Reference Librarians
Have you ever wondered what Reference Librarians do "the rest of the time" — when they're not
staffing the Reference Desk? We are delighted that two of UH Hamilton's very enthusiastic reference
librarians (Susan Johnson & Jodie Mattos) have agreed to spill the beans and answer all of your
questions about academic reference librarianship! Don't miss this opportunity to find out what goes on
behind the scenes. Thursday, March 16, 3:45pm-4:45pm in Bilger 319. Light refreshments will be served.
:: Whale Watching and Makapu'u Point Lighthouse Hike
Join us for a short, 3-mile loop hike to the
Makapu'u Point Lighthouse. This hike is appropriate for both novice and exerienced hikers. It's also whale season, so
hopefully we'll get to see some whales frolicking in the ocean. Weather permitting, the hike will be Sunday, February
19 @ 3pm. Send email to Annie Thomas if you need a ride to the site.
:: Art walk
ALA-SC invites UH LIS students to join us for an evening of art appreciation on Friday, March 3. The first Friday
of every month, downtown art galleries are open and free to the public. Join us for happy hour at Indigo's Green Room
($2.75 martinis!) at 5:00pm, followed by the art walk at 6:00pm.
:: Art Librarianship brownbag
Nancy Conley, Librarian at the Cades Library in The Contemporary Museum of Hawaii will tell us about the
joys and frustrations of being a solo librarian in a small musuem library and how she got there. Wednesday,
February 8 @ 3:45pm in Campus Center, room 306. Light refreshment will be served.

The Spring 2006 ALA-SC Ice Cream Social & New Student Welcome is Friday, January 20th at
the Queen Lili'uokalani Center for Student Services from 4:30pm - 4:30pm in room 412.
:: Welcome New Students
ALA-SC extends a warm Aloha to all our new & returning students for Spring term! Please join us for pupus
at Volcano Joe's on Saturday, January 14 @ 5:00pm for our first social gathering of the new year. After
Joe's, we'll head over to the Stan Sheriff center to watch the Wahine basketball team take on New Mexico at 7:00pm.
Tickets are free for students with valid UH ID.
