Executive Committee Meeting
October 28, 2004
Attendees: Christian DeLay, Mona Kwon, Wendy Ikemoto, Lillian Nicolich, Jenn Ogg, Lori Ann Saeki, Carole Suzui, and Andrew Wertheimer.
Call to Order: 4:00 PM
Jenn Ogg reported the treasury balance as $716.63. The Silent Auction will bring in $3908.00.
Christian DeLay reported that the ALA-SC website has a new location at http://www.hawaii.edu/ala. Leslie Wood will be applying a web usability analysis.
Dr. Knuth has agreed to an Intellectual Freedom workshop. It will be held on Nov 18, 2004 at 3:00 – 4:45 in 4V, overlapping with a portion of LIS610 class time. Lillian Nicholich described the workshop content as follows:
§ Present a scenario regarding IF.
§ Dr Knuth presentation (45 minutes).
§ Break into small group and discuss the scenario and possible solutions.
§ Sandy Hall, author of Duke: A Great Hawaiian, may be available to speak in February on her new book, or perhaps news librarianship.
§ The committee discussed hosting one more social event in the semester. December 9. Lillian Nicolich suggested an ice cream social.
§ ALA-SC will host pizza lunches during the Intensive Weekends on October 30 and November 6.
Hui Dui will be hosting their White Elephant on November 17-19.
The ALA-SC/SLA/ASIST bake sale on Nov 4 has been cancelled.
The next meeting is scheduled for December 2 at 4:00 – 4:45 PM.
