Executive Committee Meeting
December 2, 2004
Attendees: Christian DeLay, Mona Kwon, Wendy Ikemoto, Jenn Ogg, Loraine Oribio, Lori Ann Saeki, and Andrew Wertheimer.
Call to Order: 3:52 PM
The group approved the October 28 minutes.
Jenn Ogg reported the treasury balance as $846.38.
- $203 for intensive weekend lunches, combined
+ $92 in donations
+ $250 donation from University of North Carolina in Greensboro, NC
Jenn Ogg and Mona Kwon distributed a list of items ALA-SC lost in the October 30 flood. Lori Ann Saeki noted that the Blotter template was lost in the Mac Lab. The ALA-SC charter, however, was rescued from the flooded area.
§ Tentatively set for December 12th, the committee decided to host an end-of-year event. Possibly Dave & Buster’s, an ice cream social, or viewing the Honolulu City Lights. Loraine Oribio to follow-up.
§ January 17th was decided as a tentative date for the Spring Semester beach party.
Lori Ann Saeki presented a logo design for “Flood Survivor” T-shirts and umbrellas. Mona Kwon presented initial T-shirt vendors and prices. Loraine Oribio suggested Ocean Air in Waipahu as a local vendor for T-shirts. L. Oribio and M. Kwon will continue follow-up on the order of shirts and umbrellas.
Lori Ann Saeki announced that the ALA-SC Service Project for Spring 2005: assisting with recovery of flood-damaged items with Lynn Davis in Preservation.
Christian De Lay noted some upcoming changes to the ALA-SC site:
§ Simplifying the code
§ Database to house membership records
Andrew Wertheimer distributed the final Student-to-Staff proposal. The committee approved the proposal.
The new student orientation will be held on January 4, 2005. To date, there are 15 new students admitted, although the actual enrollment number is likely to be less. Wendy Ikemoto and Loraine Oribio volunteered to man the new members recruitment table. Mona Kwon will ask Erika Johnson at ALA for new information brochures, as the old ones were lost in the flood.
The ALA-SC package will include the following:
§ Past issue of the Blotter
§ ALA informational brochure
§ ALA/HLA joint member application
§ ALA-SC member application
§ As we have contributed in past Graduation Dinners, this semester ALA-SC will purchase the wine for the dinner.
§ The committee should start to consider candidates for the Vann Award that will be awarded in the Spring Semester.
