Proceedings
The minutes from
the Executive Board and Committee Chairs meeting on August 31, 2005 were
approved by the Executive Officers. Lillian distributed Agenda, Schedules and
Committee Participation sheets.
Brief Reports
Activities
review (Lillian)
- Beach
Party (22 people attended) and Ice Cream Social (31 people attended) went
well.
- General
Membership meeting had moderate attendance (13 people)
- Brown
Bag (Youth Services) was excellent but had a low turnout (10 people
attended)
- Next
Brown Bag: L.A. County Libraries Recruiting. Andrew will promote this in
class, Annie will get snacks and lei, Marta will get drinks.
- Medical
Library tour this weekend is all planned (co-host with SLA-ASIST). Brew
Moon happy hour afterward.
- Systems
Brown Bag: needs to be rescheduled to Oct. 26
- James
Rumford: Oct. 31. Will speak in Dr. Knuth’s Children’s Lit class. Social
committee will arrange some Halloween-themed snack/activity.
- Guest
speakers Dr. Noenoe Silva, Dr. Chieko Tachihata: Andrew will take care of
leis and maybe the food too.
RIO renewal
(Lillian)
- Lillian
will submit it on Friday, Sept. 30. Needs the membership list from
Lorraine to finish paperwork.

gave Janel paper records from last semester. This information needs to be
included on the website.

guided tour of Treasures Exhibit by Karen Peacock (rare book librarian) or
Tom Klobe (art gallery director). Lillian will ask.

Oct 14: possible Happy Hour near Ala Moana (Morton’s or Mai Tai Bar) then
walk over to Talk Story Festival at McCoy Pavilian

volleyball game on Mon. Nov. 14 or maybe another date in Nov. (Fri or Sat
might be better)

Fund-Raising:
T-Shirt Publicity Campaign (Lillian)
- Alumni
are interested and Lillian will email them order forms. We will try to
sell more as the flood anniversary approaches.
PNC/PRDLA/ECAI
Conference Volunteers Update (Janel)
- Janel
and Lillian met with Sara McBride and decided on volunteer duties and
tentative schedules. Volunteers will help with registration, food
service, A/V needs, gift bag prep, and setup/cleanup. Sara will speak to
LIS classes next week to promote the conference. There will be a sign-up
sheet in Bilger 319.
HLA
Conference – student get-together/neighbor island outreach
- Janel
and Joe Murphy and maybe Annie will represent ALA-SC at the HLA conference
and will host an informal gathering for students and recent alumni not
attending the banquet.
