Guidelines for The Center for Asia-Pacific Exchange (CAPE) Fellowship

Description: to provide recognition for academic excellence to graduate students in American Studies.

Guidelines for the Japanese Women's Society Foundation Endowed "Kokoro" Scholarship

Description: Assist students in the American Studies Dept at the UHM College of A & H who are pursuing Japanese American cultural studies in Hawaii.

Purpose: The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships to assist students in the American Studies Department at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, College of Arts & Humanities, who are pursuing Japanese American cultural studies in Hawaii. Recipients must be full-time, undergraduate or graduate students in a degree program in the American Studies department at the University of Hawaii at Manoa College of Arts & Humanities, who are pursuing Japanese American cultural studies in Hawaii. Recipients shall have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above for undergraduates and 3.5 or above for graduates. Financial need shall be a criterion in making this award, although not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines. The scholarship is not renewable.

Guidelines for the
Goto Foundation

Description: To provide scholarships to assist students in the American Studies Departemnt at UH Manoa College of Arts & Humanities who are pursuing interdisciplinary studies to foster volunteer activities and research which will contribute to world peace.

Purpose:
The Fund is being established to provide scholarships to assist students in the American Studies Department at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa College of Arts & Humanities who are pursuing interdisciplinary studies to foster volunteer activities and research which will contribute to world peace and to the promotion of the mutual understanding and friendship between the people of Hawai'i and Japan.

Criteria:

1. Recipients must be enrolled as full-time undergraduates with declared majors in American Studies of full-time graduate students enrolled in degree programs in the American Studies Department at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa College of Arts & Humanities, who are pursuing Interdisciplinary studies to foster volunteer activities and research which will contribute to world peace and to the promotion of the mutual understanding and friendship between the people of Hawai'i and Japan.

2. Recipients shall have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above for undergraduates and 3.5 or above for graduates.

3. Financial need shall be a criterion in making this award, although not necessarily as determined by federal guidelines.

4. If no suitable candiate is found within the American Studies Department, this scholarship shall be open to all Arts & Sciences students pursuing studies that exemplify the spirit of Katsu Goto and Dr. Fumiko Kaya (i.e. students studying Japanese culture, politics, economics, language, etc.). It is the Donor's intent that the scholarship awards be $5,000 each. However, the number and amount of awards shall be determined by the committee based on the availability of funds, and need of the recipient.

Guidelines for the Glen Grant Endowed Scholarship

Description: To provide scholarships to assist full-time graduate students in the American Studies Department, at UH Manoa who are pursuing studies in multiculturalism in Hawaii or Japanese Americans.

Purpose: To assist full-time graduate students who are pursuing studies in multiculturalism in Hawaii or Japanese Americans at the University of Hawaii, Department of American Studies.

Criteria:
1) Academic merit as demonstrated by a minimum GPA of 3.5.
2) Some degree of financial need, not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines. This scholarship is a one-time annual award and is not renewable.

Guidelines for the James M. McCutcheon Memorial Fund

Description: The purpose of this Fund is to provide scholarships to students in the American Studies Department at the University of Hawaii at Manoa College of Arts & Humanities.

Purpose: The purpose of this Fund is to provide scholarships to students in the American Studies Department at the University of Hawaii at Manoa College of Arts & Humanities. Recipients must be full-time, graduate students in the American Studies Department at the University of Hawaii at Manoa College of Arts and Humanities. Recipients shall be first year Master of Arts students. Recipients shall have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above. Financial need shall be a criterion in making this award although not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines.
