Museum Studies Admission Guidelines
Applicants for the Museum Studies Graduate Certificate Program are required to have an undergraduate degree and possess a strong interest in Museum Studies or a related subject. The certificate may enhance degrees in: American Studies, Art, Architecture, Anthropology, Archaeology, History, Pacific Island Studies, Political Science, Travel Industry Management, Urban & Regional Planning and Business Administration, as well as compliment courses in the Historic Preservation Program and the International Cultural Studies Certificate Program.
Unless already accepted or enrolled as a graduate student in a degree program, prospective applicants must apply for classified admission to the program through Graduate Division Admission office. The deadline for Fall admission is March 1; the deadline for Spring admission is September 1.
Prospective students should send directly to the American Studies department: 1) the Graduate Program Supplemental information form and 2) a Statement of Objectives form.Applicants are required to mail directly to the Graduate Division-Admission Office an official transcript from each university attended. The Department of American Studies waives the requirements of GRE scores and two letters of recommendation for Museum Studies Graduate Certificate applicants.
Please be aware that financial aid is not provided for students doing the Museum Studies Graduate Certificate Program only.

-Official academic record/transcripts
-Residency declaration form if claiming Hawai‘i residency or an exemption,
signed and dated• International applicants must also submit:
-Official TOEFL test scores of IELTS test results, if required

-Statement of Objectives Form
