Step 2. What anti-virus software package do you need?

Since you have a Macintosh desktop or portable, you will want to download Virex for Macintosh.
System Requirements

A Motorola 68020 or later processor, or a PowerPC 601 or later
Mac OS 7.5.5 - 9.x
4MB of available random-access memory (RAM)
9MB of available hard disk space

Step 3. Read and understand the installation instructions.

Before you download the actual anti-virus software, please review the installation instructions.

Step 4. Download the Virex anti-virus software.

At this point, you will need to

Go to the main Download Page
Enter all required information, and select the software you have chosen above (Virex)
Click on the "Submit" button
Read the page that follows your submission and click on the appropriate link(s) to download the software. Be sure to make a note of which folder your downloaded files have been saved.
Come back to this page to continue the process at Step 5

Step 5. Download the latest Definition File.

At this point, you should have already downloaded the Virex software. You now should download the latest Definition Files.

When you click on the below links, be sure to make a note of which folder your downloaded files have been saved into.

Download the latest Virex Definition Files directly from NAI.

If you have already installed Virex anti-virus software, skip to Step 7, otherwise continue to Step 6.

Step 6. Install the Virex anti-virus software.

Locate and double-click on the appropriate Macintosh application file (.SEA format) you downloaded in Step 4 to begin the installation process for your Virex software. Refer to the installation instructions you viewed in Step 3. Be sure to follow all instructions carefully.

Step 7. Install the latest Definition File

Locate and double-click on the appropriate Macintosh Definition File you downloaded in Step 5 to begin the installation process for your Virex software. (The current Virex documentation is incomplete and does not include this information. We are presently updating the document.)

Note: ITS recommends that once you have the software completely installed, any future updates to Definition Files should be done via Virex's eUpdate feature. This will ensure that you will always have the best protection available.

Your computer now should have maximum protection against viruses. Reminder: please be sure to use the eUpdate feature in your software to have the latest in protection.
