Remote Sensing

ARL at UH undertakes fundamental research and applied engineering supporting improvements in remote sensing, environmental sensors, communications, networks and protocols, command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I) systems hardware, signal processing, high-performance computing, and data analytics and visualization.

We measure and monitor the physical environment to characterize and effectively communicate through it, for example through spectrum analysis, advanced radar development and enhancement, active and passive remote sensing, and in situ measurement collection in combination with techniques such as sensor network integration, distributed processing, command and control integration and data analytics to yield products that support Naval operations.

In May 2020 ARL at UH was awarded a four-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory to operate the Maui High Performance Computing Center (MHPCC). The contract calls for ARL at UH to provide essential engineering, research and development capabilities in emerging computer technology. The tasking is intended to lower barriers to a modern high-performance computing ecosystem and high-performance computing- backed solutions.
