Born in Plainfield, NJ, he attended and graduated high school in South Plainfield, New Jersey. Following his graduation he entered the United States Army in July of 1979 and attended OSUT at Ft. Benning, GA., Graduating from Infantry School on 27 September 1979.

Through out his 26 year career in the Army as an Infantryman he served in the 7th Infantry Division as a Squad leader, the 25th Infantry Division as a Section leader/PSG, the 101st Airborne Division (AASLT) as a PSG/PL/1SG, and with the 10th Mountain Division (Lt) as a PSG/1SG.

He also served as a Military Science Instructor (MSI) at the West Virginia University and as a Senior Military Instructor (SMI) at the University of Hawaii Army ROTC.

First Sergeant Minicozzi is a Veteran of Operation Desert Storm (IRAQ), Operation Joint Guard-SFOR (Bosnia) and Operation IRAQI Freedom (IRAQ).

On 23 February 2001, 1SG Minicozzi was granted and assigned the distinction of, Distinguished Member of the 327th Infantry Regiment (DMOR). On 24 July 2002 he was bestowed the Order of Saint Maurice for his distinguished contributions and loyal support of the Infantry Branch.

His military education includes the Primary Noncommissioned Officers Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course and Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Courses, First Sergeant Course Class #6-95, Air Assault School, ITV Trainers Course, Tow Master Gunners Course, Tow Leaders Course, Hazardous Material Course, Retention NCO Course, Maintenance Leader Course, Jungle Operations Training Center, Panama (seven times) Jungle Environment Survival Training Course (U.S. Navy), Small Unit Leader Supporting Arms Course (USMC), Instructor Course, Radio-Telephone Operator Course, School of Cadet Command and Army Pre- Commission Course (ACCP). 1SG Minicozzi has attained an Associate in Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Business, from Excelsior College in Albany NY; earning eighty- five hours of credit with a 3.3 GPA.

First Sergeant Minicozzi’s awards include the Combat Infantryman’s Badge (2nd Award), Air Assault Badge, Jungle Expert Badge, Physical Fitness Excellence Badge, Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (5 OLC), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (6 OLC), Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal w/BS, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, South West Asia Service Medal W/2 BS,Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon W/numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon W/numeral 2, NATO Ribbon, Liberation of Kuwait (Saudi Arabia), Liberation of Kuwait (Kuwait), Meritorious Unit Commendation w/OLC (Army) and the Valorous Unit Award.

First Sergeant Minicozzi is married to Lani Minicozzi from Hawaii.
