CPT Penn-Pressley graduated from Virginia State University Army ROTC Program as a Distinguished Military Graduate 1996. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education. She also served 4 enlisted years with the 301st Signal Company, Fort Pickett, Virginia, and the 300th Area Support Group, Fort Lee, Virginia, prior to becoming a commissioned officer.
CPT Wanda A. Penn-Pressley is a native of Washington, D.C. She entered active duty as a Commissioned Officer in May 1996, with an initial assignment at Fort Bragg, North Carolina as Cadre for 1996 ROTC Advanced Camp. Upon graduation from the Transportation Officer Basic Course, CPT Penn-Pressley served as an Executive Officer, HHC, 58th Transportation Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, MO. CPT Penn-Pressley returned to the Reserves, where she served as the Assistant Training Officer for the HHD, 1st Brigade (BCST), 78th Division, Edison, New Jersey. The following assignment was with the 9th Theater Support Command, as the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Executive Officer.
Her next duty assignment was with the 468th Transportation Detachment at Fort Meade, Maryland where she served as the Marine Terminal Operations Officer. Upon completion of that assignment, CPT Penn-Pressley accepted her initial Command as the Headquarters and Headquarters Company Detachment Commander, 313th Transportation Battalion, Glen Burnie, Maryland. After serving one year as the HHC Detachment Commander, CPT Penn-Pressley was cross-leveled to 946th Transportation Company, a subordinate unit for mobilization. The unit was deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi/Enduring Freedom and CPT Penn-Pressley served as a Platoon Leader with additional duties as the Executive Officer and Company Liaison to ARCENT-KU.
During deployment, CPT Penn-Pressley was accepted into the Active Guard/Reserve Program (AGR) and upon redeployment, served her initial tour at the 88th Regional Readiness Command, Fort Snelling, Minnesota, as the Headquarters and Headquarters Company Executive Officer. CPT Penn-Pressley was cross-leveled to the Multi-Functional Support Command, Rock Island, IL, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Bagram Airbase, Afghanistan and was assigned to the Army Field Support Battalion as the Battalion Transportation Officer.
Currently, CPT Penn-Pressley serves as the S4 OIC with the 302nd Transportation Terminal Battalion in Ft. Shafter Flats, Hawaii. Her military awards include; the Army Commendation Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (w/ ”M” device), Army Service Ribbon and the Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon.
She has two sons, Domenique Amir and Daenah Ahmari Pressley.
