1LT Maryjane Porter is a native of American Samoa and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Washington State University. She was Direct Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in December 2006 and assumed the position of Assistant Professor of Military Science in August 2007. LT Porter is currently assigned to the Army Reserve 411th Engineer Combat Battalion and is the Platoon Leader/Detachment Commander for the 400th Combat Support Platoon based in American Samoa.
Her duty assignments included a one year deployment tour to Iraq from 2004-2005; Acting-Commander and Executive Officer for the 793rd Engineer Detachment in 2007; Distribution Platoon Leader from 2008-2009; Equipment Platoon Leader from 2007-2008; and Acting-Equipment Platoon Sergeant and Squad Leader from 2005-2006.
LT Porter’s military education includes the Quartermaster Basic Officer Leadership Course or BOLC3 in Ft Lee, VA and BOLC2 in Ft Benning, GA in 2008; the Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course (Phase 1) in Ft Lewis, WA in 2006; the Primary Leadership Development Course in Schofield, HI in 2003; and Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training in 2001.
Her awards and decorations include the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Service Bars (2), Army Commendation Medal (2), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M-device, and the Iraq Campaign Medal.
