U.S. Army

Master Sergeant Martin A. Soto, a native of Santo Domingo, DR, entered the U.S. Army in May 1984. He attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and was awarded the Military Occupational Specialty 13B, Cannon Crewman.

Master Sergeant Soto’s military education includes: Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, Warrior Leaders Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Drill Sergeant Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, First Sergeant Course. Master Sergeant Soto holds an Associate of Science Degree from University of Troy in Alabama.

Prior to his assignment as Senior Military Science Instructor, Master Sergeant Soto served as the First Sergeant for HHS & Bravo Battery, as well as Operation Sergeant for 4th BN 11 FA, Fort Wainwright, AK; Platoon Sergeant, Charlie Battery and Intelligence Sergeant, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Giessen, Germany; Howitzer Section Chief Charlie Battery 4th BN 41 FA Fort Benning, GA. Master Sergeant Soto’s deployments include: Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm as part of The 24th Infantry Division and Operation Iraqi Freedom as part of the 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat team.

Master Sergeant Soto’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, with four oak leaf clusters; the Army Commendation Medal, with four oak leaf clusters; the Army Achievement Medal, with seven oak leaf clusters; the Good Conduct Medal, seventh award; the National Defense Service Ribbon with bronze star; the South West Asia Service Ribbon, with two bronze stars; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, with numeral three device; the Army Service Ribbon; the Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral 3; the Defense of Kuwait Medal, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; and the Defense of Kuwait, Kingdom of Kuwait. Master Sergeant Soto is a member of the Order of Saint Barbara and an Audie Murphy Club member.
