PAINTED FORMS : RECENT INVESTIGATIONS BY TOM WALKER
NOVEMBER 7 – 18, 2016
Commons Gallery

Painted Forms: Recent Investigations by Tom Walker, is an exhibition of the artist’s new work.

Artist’s Statement:
Flatness within painting has been more of a concern of mine in recent years. It has been a uniquely characteristic property of painting that I have both embraced and rejected at times. Quite simply, when looking at any surface with only two dimensions, our depth perception is an illusion. When looking at any surface with three dimensions, depth perception is a reality. This division is examined and tested by these pieces you see here. These works focus on that conscious depth perception of the viewer by stripping away any mimetic or abstract elements, and focusing on non-objective painting through color, design, form and line.
