Barbara Takenaga is an abstract painter who lives and works in New York City. She has had numerous exhibitions in the US, most recently, a large wall mural at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts, and a solo show at DC Moore Gallery in New York City. Her work is represented by DC Moore, Gregory Lind Gallery in San Francisco and Shark’s Ink in Lyons, Colorado. Takenaga’s work is in the permanent collections of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, the DeCordova Museum, the San Jose Museum, and the Crocker Art Museum, among others. She is the Mary A. & William Wirt Warren Professor of Art at Williams College.

Takenaga is one of the featured artists in the exhibition NEW NEW YORK: Abstract Painting in the 21st Century that is on view at The Art Gallery, UHM, from October 4 – December 4, 2015.
