Visual Resources Center (VRC)

Hours: 8am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday
Location: Room 215, Art Building

VRC is open to all faculty, students and staff at the Department of Art and Art History. It houses and maintains image collections in both physical and digital formats. It also provides instructional support, reference service, digital imaging equipment, work space and computer stations, and guides to online image resources.

SERVICES + RESOURCES

- Reference service (inquiries about image resources, image use, copyright and fair use, image citations, etc.)
- Online Image Resources Guide
- Image Database with 24,000 images (currently only available within VRC)
- Tutorials for ARTstor and other databases
- Open use scanners (2 self-service flatbed scanners for documents and film/slides)
- Scanning service (for images to be entered in the department's Image Database / download the Scanning Request Form)
- Training in digital imaging, presentation software and database use
- Slides checkout (130,000+ slides)
- Book Reference Library (1,200+ books and journals on art history including auction catalogs and survey of global art textbooks)
- Equipment checkout (wireless microphone, PowerPoint remote control, etc.)

JOB OPPORTUNITIES

VRC is hiring Federal Work Study (FWS) student assistants on an ongoing basis. Duties include: digital imaging (scanning and editing digital images with Photoshop), searching online databases, and working with physical slides.
