Waialua has gone through a lot of changes in the past few years. With the closure of the sugar mill in 1996, many families were forced to change a way of life that has remained a constant for many generations. My family was part of the plantation era and our house was right next to the mill. When it was demolished last year my last link to the plantation was destroyed with it.
