Undergraduate

While art in the Fiber medium historically has had a practical and functional application, the emphasis of the Fiber Program is more academic—investigating fiber as a fine–arts medium. In the program, students learn traditional textile techniques and hand processes and are encouraged to pursue their own conceptually based studio direction. The Fiber Program encourages cross-media interaction and emphasizes the study of textile history as a necessary part of the curriculum. Through the study of fiber in both studio and lecture classes, students acquire the skills and concepts necessary to qualify as a professional in the field.
