Visiting Artists

Intersections' mission is to develop and sustain a dynamic guest artist/scholar program that supports and enriches the curriculum of the Department of Art and Hawai‘i's art community at-large. We are particularly interested in artists and scholars whose areas of expertise are not covered by existing faculty, or sufficiently supported by the art community, in particular those who do not qualify for commercial application. The promotion of diversity and respect for difference is central to the way that we develop programming. We believe that exposure to diverse models of artistic activities and perspectives enhances critical-thinking and creative problem-solving. We aim to organize programming that explores the meaning and relevance of artistic practice as part of culture, and inspires our community to embrace art critically as both practitioner and audience.
