REBECCA HORNE
Lecturer
Born in Seattle, WA, Rebecca Horne has lived in Hawaii over 26 years, studied both in Hawaii and abroad and graduated with her Masters in Fine Arts Degree at the University of Hawaii. In 2004 she received the National Endowment for the Arts Award for "Art in the Prisons" which included an artist-in-residence program and teaching art to the inmates of the federal prison in Honolulu, HI. Most recently, Rebecca was the recipient of the prestigious Baciu Visual Arts Award at Artists of Hawaii, 2006, the annual exhibition at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Her work can vary from intricate detailed drawings to expressive layering of paint and explores the idea of the passage of time through the process of mark-making and layering. Rebecca enjoys teaching drawing and painting at the University of Hawaii, Manoa and Honolulu Community College campuses.
