Born in Kaunas, Lithuania, 1942, Rimas VisGirda has a BA in physics, 1966, and a MA in art, 1971, from California State University, Sacramento and a MFA, 1973, from Washington State University, Pullman. He received a Lithuanian-American Cultural Council/Lithuanian Foundation Visual Arts Award, 2003, and a travel grant to the XXVI International Ceramic Symposium in Walbrzych, Poland, 2002. His work is in collections in the United States, Belgium, Greece, Canada, Lithuania, Poland, Georgian Republic, Japan, Germany, Czech Republic, and Australia.

I like to show that my work is a combination of man and material where both the person and the material have equal significance.
