Crime and “Pun”ishment

23474

February 18, 2014 – February 21, 2014
Art Building, Commons Gallery

Humor infiltrates aspects of daily life in funny and unexpected ways. The much maligned pun is often written off as a simple joke, but humor is much more than that. Marcel Duchamp famously described his use of puns in his process as the juxtaposition of disparate words and objects that connect ideas together in unexpected ways.

The exhibition showcases work done for the class Art 400, Humor in Art. The meanings of the multi-media works were created through puns and word association.
