Welcome to the Taiwan Collection of Hamilton Library. The Taiwan Collection acquires materials in support of Taiwanese studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Resources are collected about Taiwan and other Taiwanese communities, written in Chinese, English, as well as other Western languages. The collection covers a variety of subjects in the humanities and social sciences and is particularly strong in history, literature, languages, and minority studies.


  • Wade-Giles to Pinyin Conversion at UHM Library: starting in October 2000, the library began using Pinyin as the standard romanization system for Chinese. Conversion of retrospective records will be ongoing. Users are advised to use both Pinyin and Wade-Giles to search for Chinese materials in the online catalog during the conversion process.
