How much memory (RAM) does my Mac computer have?

Computer memory (RAM) is typically installed in megabytes (MB) or gigabytes (GB), typically in some combination of 256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB or 4 GB. One MB is 1,000,000 bytes. One GB is 1,000,000,000 bytes.

For Mac OS X:

  1. Go to the Apple menu and select "About this Mac".
  2. The amount of RAM you have will be displayed in the window that appears, next to "Memory".
