Services not immediately available after UH Username activation

While there are many services that are immediately available for you to use after you activate your UH Username, there are some services that will take time to set up. The following is a list of services and a brief description of the services that will be available at 7:00 AM of the morning after you have activated your UH Username. If you are unable to use a service, please call the ITS Help Desk at (808) 956-8883 or toll-free from the neighbor islands (800) 558-2669 for assistance.

Creation of a personal homepage on the Web: Your UH Username permits you to create a personal homepage on the World Wide Web. Jane Doe with UH Username jdoe would create a home page at www2.hawaii.edu/~jdoe.

Request or Edit an email mailing list: A mailing list is a tool for communicating with a specific group of people via email. Mailing lists are useful for discussions and announcements. Faculty and staff may go to the account management page and after logging in request a mailing list or listproc for a topic directly related to the academic and/or administrative work of the University of Hawaii.

Access to the UNIX system and software: Using your UH Username and password, you can login to the UNIX system. Refer to the ITS document Using Unix: Learning the Basics to get started with UNIX. For a list of available software, login to UNIX and type 'help software' at the UNIX % prompt.

Access to Pine on the UNIX system: Pine is just one of the many ITS supported email clients. If you are new to email, we recommend Webmail which is immediately available to you after your UH Username was activated. If you already have a favorite email client, you can access your ITS Email Account (@hawaii.edu) immediately. If you would like to find the email server settings, please click here.
