Adobe Reader Information (Mac)

General Information

Adobe Reader, available free from Adobe, allows you to view and print files saved in Adobe Portable Document Format (pdf).

To create PDFs, including form-fillable PDFs, use Adobe Acrobat or another PDF creator software of your choice. Adobe Acrobat DC is available via a subscription plan or perpetual license.

Minimum System Requirements

Adobe Reader DC

  • A Mac running OS X 10.9, 10.10 or 10.11*
  • An Intel processor
  • 1 GB of RAM
  • 450 MB of available hard disk space
  • 1024 x 768 screen resolution
  • Safari 7 or 8 (browser plug-in for Safari supported on 64-bit Intel processor only), Firefox, or Chrome

Adobe Reader XI

  • A Mac running OS X 10.8
  • An Intel processor
  • 1 GB of RAM
  • 350 MB of available hard disk space
  • 1024 x 768 screen resolution
  • Safari 6

ITS Supported Version

Adobe announced the end of support for Adobe Acrobat X and Adobe Reader X on Nov. 15, 2015. Product and security updates for these products will no longer be provided. Please upgrade to a supported version of Acrobat and Adobe Reader.
