Virex 7.7 Patch 1 is for Macintosh users that are using Mac OS 10.2.6 – 10.3.9 and Virex 7.7. [Mac OS 10.4 users should be using VirusScan for Mac 8.5]
McAfee has released Patch 1 for Virex 7.7. This patch fixes some eUpdate problems:
- The "last eUpdate" date never changes even though Virex was updated successfully
- You get an error message that Virex cannot be updated
To install the patch:
- Download the patch from http://www.hawaii.edu/antivirus
(After you go to the main download page, click on the Virex 7.7 Patch 1 link; you don't have to download Virex 7.7 again.)
- When the download has finished, you should have a folder named "Virex 7.7 Patch 1" on your desktop. Open this folder, double click on the "Virex 7.7 Patch 1" icon, and follow the instructions.
You can check if the patch was successfully applied by going to the Virex menu and selecting "About Virex". It should now say "McAfee Virex version 7.7 (build 194)".
