How to Install Webroot Spy Sweeper

    * The ITS site-licensed version of Webroot Spy Sweeper includes anti-spyware only, no anti-virus.
    * Version 6.1 runs on 32-bit Windows XP, 32-bit Windows Vista, and 64-bit Windows Vista SP1.
    * It does not run on Windows servers or Windows 2000.
    * The current version is 6.1.0.128.
    * A UH installer with pre-configured settings for the UH community has been created.

To install the ITS site licensed version of Spy Sweeper:

   1. Download Spy Sweeper from http://www.hawaii.edu/software.
   2. Login with your UH username and password.
   3. Print the page with the keycode or copy/paste the keycode. You will need the keycode when installing the software.
   4. Save the installer uhssp610128.exe on your desktop. Remember the location of the saved file.
   5. Make sure you are logged into your Windows computer with an administrator account. Close applications.
   6. Double click on the uhssp610128.exe icon.
   7. If you have Spy Sweeper installed and running on your computer, you will receive a prompt. Click "Close the Program and Continue" button.
   8. Spy Sweeper will install silently.
   9. To activate full Spy Sweeper protection, you must restart Windows. At the restart now prompt, click "Yes".
  10  After Windows restarts,  click "Accept" to accept the Spy Sweeper license agreement.
  11. Enter the 20-character keycode from the ITS software download site and click "OK".
  12. At the Spy Sweeper Setup Wizard page, click "Next".
  13. After Spy Sweeper sweeps memory, click "Next".
  14. At the prompt to join WARN, select Yes or No, as desired. Click "Next".
  15. For Scheduled Events, check "automatically sweep my computer". Select a day and time. Click "Next".
  16. For online backup, click "Finish".
      (Note: this option doesn't work. Web browser opens to the UH update page.)

Things to do after installation:

1. Right click Spy Sweeper icon in system tray.
2. Click "Home".

Check for Updates:
1. Click "Home" button on left.
2. In Updates section, click "Check for Updates" link.

Schedule a Sweep Task:
1. Click "Schedule" button on left.
2. If you have a scheduled sweep task, highlight task and click "Edit This Event" button to make any changes.
3. If you don't have a scheduled sweep task, click "Add" button in Add Events section.
4. Select "Full Sweep." Click "Next".
5. Select "Weekly". Select time and day of week. Click "Finish".

Run a Full Sweep:
1. Click "Sweep" button on left.
2. Click "Start Full Sweep" button.

Note: Spy Sweeper 6.1 includes an e-mail attachment shield feature. This feature may conflict with McAfee VirusScan Enterprise. To resolve the conflict, disable e-mail attachment shield in Spy Sweeper. See http://www.hawaii.edu/askus/810 for instructions.
