Laulima Workshop I: Laulima Overview and Web-Course Best Practices
February 5, 2:30pm - 4:00pmHonolulu Campus, 7-421
Yes, the rumors are true!!! The University is migrating away from WebCT. If you’re a current user of WebCT or have ever been interested in integrating web-based tools into your teaching NOW is the time to get up-to-date on the new Laulima system. This workshop is the first in a series of four that will get you up to speed on the new Laulima web-based course tools system. This workshop will go over the following: an overview of online course design best practices, an overview of the Digital Millenium Copyright Act and finally an overview of what the Laulima system is, how you can use it to facilitate student learning as well as course management. We’ll go over how to set-up your Laulima course site, how to control access to it, and give a preview of the MANY plug-ins Laulima gives you to customize your course. Faculty interested in attending the four part Laulima series should request a development account with UH ITS as upon completion of all four workshops you will have all the tools and knowledge to develop your own course in Laulima which you will be able to launch in the Fall 2008 semester. Whether you are a current WebCT user or are completely new to using web-based course management tools, this workshop is for YOU.
