Introduction to Urushi: The Japanese Lacquer Process

Illustrated talk by visiting lacquer artist Suzanne Ross. Ross is an award-winning artist originally from London, who has lived in Wajima, Japan for over 20 years learning and practicing the art of Japanese urushi. Wajima is most famous for the durability and elegance of its lacquer ware.

In conjunction with the East-West Center Gallery exhibition "Living Lacquer Traditions" (May 25 - Sept. 7, 2014).
