Torah vs Dao with Dr. Ping Zhang (Tel Aviv University)

March 6, 1:30pm - 3:30pm
Mānoa Campus, Sakamaki Hall C-308

"Torah vs Dao: A Comparative Reading of the First Chapters of Pirki Avoth and The Analects" This lecture attempts to demonstrate the possibility of establishing an inter-traditional dialogue between the two traditions of Confucianism and Rabbinic Judaism. By using a method based on Martin Buber’s theory, our comparative reading discusses the common ground of the two traditions on which such a dialogue might be conducted, as well as the significant differences between them.
