twelf nite o' WATEVA!
April 28, 8:00pm - 10:00pmManoa Campus, Kennedy Theatre
Adapted by James Grant Benton from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night or What You Will
Directed by Terence Knapp
This fabulous and funny pidgin retelling of Shakespeare's glorious comedy is set in the Kingdom of Hawai'i. Written by James Grant Benton, one of the original members of "Booga Booga", the popular local comic group of the seventies, WATEVA! broke new ground in bringing Shakespeare to local audiences and in bringing pidgin to the stage. It will again be directed by Terence Knapp, who was instrumental in bringing the original to life and will serve as a tribute to Benton, who passed away in 2002.
